We did it! We pulled of all three surprises for my sister-in-law Angie and it couldn't have gone any better if we tried! Katie (a friend of mine and one of Angie's best high school friend) and I flew out to Las Vegas to surprise Angie and spend some time with her over her spring break being it wasn't a good idea for her to fly this way to visit. We left Saturday, March 31st and let me tell you, it had to be one of the longest flights ever with all the excitement building and what had been in the planning for a good 2-3 months was about to become real!
Yes, I still love Celine Dion!
So here goes surprise #1!
Katie and I were in talks with my brother-in-law Joe and he helped us out a lot as well as Angie's friend Carla, thank you so very much!! Carla was our "very nice cab driver" who picked us up from the airport and brought us to Angie & Joe's home who were at a wedding at the time we arrived but were able to get into the home thanks to Joe! We had a little time to prepare for the surprise as well as another one to come but when we got the heads up they were on their way home from the wedding, it was screaming and jumping around that this moment was about to come and Angie literally had no idea we were at her home!!!!! So we sat in the dark, as they had left their home, and waited for her to open up the door to see us sitting at her dining room table. So she opened up the door, we turned on some lights and said, SURPRISE!!!!!
As you can see, we pulled it off and it was only the beginning! We enjoyed a nice night hanging out together and had fun telling how this all came about. We had to make sure that we told her that we only had one thing we would like to do and plan for our trip, it went better than expected too!
So we told Angie that we wanted to take her out for a nice lunch on Sunday and take her shopping for her baby shower present being we couldn't make her baby shower in May and wanted to come over her spring break so we could spend more time with her which was very true but she had no idea what was to come, haha!!!
Surprise #2
So Sunday we all got ready that morning as if we were going to go to lunch and drove her to one of her favorite restaurants where there were about 25 people waiting for her on the patio....SURPRISE BABY SHOWER!!! She once again had no idea and didn't think anything of the pink and white balloons, baby clothes hanging around the patio, and a group of people hanging out on the patio so Katie and I had to tell her that this was all for her and her baby shower! Of course that was followed by screams, tears and "are you serious?" and "no way!" It was a moment I'll never forget for the girl who has been through so much, deserves so very much and it was an honor to be able to be there for her and baby girl to be!
For our last surprise, the girls at the shower hid her Mom and Aunt Chrissie who she had no idea had flown in for her shower either!
Here is her reaction to seeing her mom!
Left to right: Aunt Chrissie, Mom-Bonnie, myself, Katie,
Mommy-to-be and Aunt Kathy.
Carla & Katie, two of the greatest ladies I know and who Angie are so blessed to have as her friends. The two of them, along with myself and my mother-in-law Bonnie and help from Grandma & Grandpa Swanson-to-be put together an amazing shower! Thank you ladies for giving my sister a beautiful shower, it was better than I could have ever expected!
GG (Great-Grandma) does the most amazing work and with so much love.
The shower was complete with not only a beautiful group of family and friends but wine, pizza, salad, cake pops and of course, presents for baby girl! I can't wait to meet you and am so excited to be an Auntie!!
No more surprises the rest of the trip, just relaxation and fun with my sister-in-law and Katie which is exactly what we did! What better way to start than the most fun and yummy coffee! It was so good we had to go back again before we left!
We enjoyed a day full of shopping, a yummy dinner and an evening at "The Hunger Games"
The weather warmed up a little each day we were there so come Tuesday, we enjoyed a beautiful afternoon by the pool at the M in Las Vegas.
She is truly beautiful inside and out...
Cheers to so many good things in life that have come and
continue to come our way!
Wednesday, April 4th, Katie & I headed back home. It was such a fun trip but as always, went way too fast. As sad as it was to say goodbye to Angie & Joe, it was also such a great feeling coming home to the loves of my life!
A special thank you to Nana & Papa Johnson who took such great care of Mason & Bella while Mommy was gone, both Scott and I truly appreciated it and Mason & Bella had a lot of fun too!
Love you Angie & Joe and can't wait to meet your baby girl,
you two will be the most wonderful parents!
